Opening Speeches

What are Opening Speeches?

An opening speech is a speech where every delegate presents their country's stance on each respective issue in front of their committees. This occurs on the first day and each speech should be approximately one minute each

How Do I Write an Opening Speech?

1. Begin your opening speech by addressing the president and delegates of the committee:

"Honorable chairs/ presidents and distinguished delegates"

2. The body of your speech should be written in the perspective of your country about the issues within your committee

3. End the speech by addressing the audience of the speech once again:

"Thank you, Mister/Madam President"

4. Keep your speech concise as they should go for around 1 minute. This means it should be around 120-160 words depending on how quick you read your speech.
